Homeward
05:45
|

Summertime in Pennsylvania,
driving down those windy roads.
She likes the cool side of the car
where the sun don't beat on her lap.
Afternoon love's in her eyes,
and she reads her Slaughterhouse Five.
Dips her feet outside my window and she says:
"Where did the time go?
It seems to have passed me by.
How far are we from home?
This drive is the epitome of our lives."
Staring off into the road.
Yellow lines are guiding my path.
Listening to Abbey Road
and looking for another place for us to go
or do you think it's time for us to head back home?
Back homeward where we used to find ourselves
under the sheets and toying away at others expenses
and lying about our lives and spreading cheer
at how we got away with it all.
Oh, how it all was fun;
feeling like we owned the world.
But back then we were still young
and overwhelmed there was no other place to go
except our Victorian architectured home.
It's where you and I both belong.
Let's get back on the 95 and say hello
to going home with you and not remaining alone.

Crossroads
06:36

I'm stuck at a crossroads,
losing you again, left or right?
Compiling my life's miles
and dimming my light on you.
She said I am stuck in a dark place.
I've been here for years.
My face hasn't changed,
but I've been drinking away
like your Daddy did in January.
And maybe there's a Heaven.
I don't know what's going on.
I've really been trying so hard.
I want to understand
why I can't feel my hands
after I've touched your face.
I'm numb in every place,
and I'm not okay.

Turtle Pond
04:41
|

Little dog, why are you slow?
Our two roads, why aren't you found?
Caroline, where are you going?
American rivers, why aren't you flowing?
Four, three, two, one.
Marigold, why aren't you spinning?
Little kids, why aren't you playing?
Telephone, why aren't you calling?
Four, three, two, one.
Turtle pond, why're you still frozen?
Lavender, where is your purple?
Rosemary, why aren't you free?
Four, three, two, one.

River

I know you're willing and able
there by the wooden table.
Won't you come on over to my side,
and you know I'll treat you right.
And there at the water there is the water you drink.
Won't you come on over to my side,
and you can drink from my...
Down through the dirt you lead us
across the sand, you disappear.
Will you come back?
I fear you won't need us.
I feel you won't miss us.
Will you come back?
Back in the Summer,
I fell into your space
with an understanding
when I just looked in your face.
And there at the water
you wash your skin.
And sleep on the violets
until you're covered in dust again.
I know you're hungry and tired
all alone by the fire.
So won't you come, come on over to my side,
and you know.
That down through the dirt you lead us
one kiss before you leave.
Will you come back
and sleep tonight beside me?
The morning comes, I feel alive.
Will you come back?
And two yellow eyes remember souls of ancient lies.
And she sees them dance and hears them moan and cry.
And two yellow eyes reveal her warmth and love inside.
And she wears her mask and pulls on her gloves.

Duk Koo Kim

Looking out on my roof last night.
Woken up from a dream.
Saw a typhoon coming in close.
Bringing the clouds down to the sea.
Making the world look grey and alone;
and taking all light from my view.
Keeping everyone in.
Keeping me here with you.
Around you now. I can't sleep no more, baby.
Around you still. Don't want to leave you.
Woken up from a dream last night.
Somewhere lost in a war.
I couldn't feel my feet or hands;
I didn't feel right any more.
I knew there I'd die alone with no one to reach to.
But an angel came down and brought me back to you.
I'd rather leave this world forever, baby,
than let life go the way it's going.
Watching an old fight film last night:
Ray Mancini and Duk Koo Kim.
The boy from the Seoul was hanging on good,
but the pounding took to him.
There in the square he laid alone,
without face, without crown.
And the angels who looked upon,
they never came down.
You never know what day is going to pick you up baby.
Out of the air, out of nowhere.
Come to me once more my love.
Show me love I've never known.
Sing to me once more my love.
Words that I want to hear.
Sing to me once more my love.
Songs from your younger years.
Come to me once more my love.

Familiar
01:14
|
|||
Wind was rushing through the hills.
The night was getting colder, as I recall.
The sky was screaming out a name,
so indistinct I didn't bother at all.
It seemed so familiar to my ears.
I think I've forgotten everything over the years.
